Ireland can be a wonderful part of the UK despite the weather being a bit brisker, but the villages are adorable, there are cobblestone pathways in the cities, and plenty of pubs and restaurants to choose from.  The rural areas of Ireland are also quite scenic with large rolling green hills and plenty of sheep dotted around.  For this reason, many people regularly head to Ireland to tour the countryside and get a taste of the local village life for themselves.

If  you are thinking about taking a tour of Ireland than you really have two options for arriving in the country, which are dependent on where  you live in the UK.  Those who live close to the Irish borders may want to consider taking one of the many ferries that departs from the English water ways over to Ireland.  The ferries are generally very inexpensive when compared to what you may spend traveling by plane and are able to easily accommodate your vehicle as well, so that once you get into Ireland you can drive yourself to your final destination or simply roam around the country.

On the other hand, if you do not live near the Irish borders than it is more practical to simply look for cheap flights and head over to Ireland via a plane.  The ride should only take about two hours depending on the weather conditions if not less from most areas in England, and will allow you to have much more time to tour the country once you actually arrive.  In addition, you will not be tired of driving as you will have flown in, which should make it more enjoyable to tour the countryside by vehicle.

Of course, in order for this to work out you will need to make sure that you plan ahead so that you can secure a discount rate on your flight tickets.  By taking the time to book your car hire at the same time that you get your flight tickets you can make sure that you get the best cheap flights since most online booking agencies will offer you a discount if you book your flights and car hire together.

In addition, if you add in your accommodation you will most likely get even better deals so that you can enjoy your time in Ireland in the highest accommodation without paying an arm and a leg for them.
